A Day at the Fair

As we were walking up this firm concrete ramp right next to the Heckenberg’s Seafood restaurant, alongside me I noticed a painting spread across 5 segments of wooden boards, each being multiple feet tall and wide. On the board second from the left had a golden framed sign with “Scenes from the Great Allentown Fair” written at the top of the sign. Under that, it wrote “America’s Greatest County Fair Since 1852”. As I read this it really put into perspective how long this tradition has been going on for. Pictured behind the sign and covering the rest of the boards was of a past fair that was from long ago. There was a dirt path with few tents along it. There were few people there compared to how it is today. It must have been a way simpler time.

My little sister has always been the biggest animal lover I know, so when she found out there were animals here we had to go see them. The first animals we saw were camels. Some with two humps, some with only one. As I was watching from the distance, I noticed a lady with her phone out filming the camel. As I shifted my attention to the camel I saw he was scraping his front foot and I thought he might end up spitting on her, so I took out my phone and started filming just in case he were to. Nothing ended up happening, unfortunately. The next section of animals we went to was the livestock. You could tell you were there when you could smell that farm smell of manure. There were pigs in a pen with hay covering the blacktop. They were all panting from the heat and there was a lady who wasn’t happy about it. She was by herself and she would talk to herself but loud enough for everyone to hear about how it isn’t right.
